Specialized have put more thought and design into their range of cycling shoes than some companies put into their bikes. Which is probably the reason more of the European Pro peloton choose to ride Specialized shoes than any other brand around. Rather then just making stiff soled shoes with a cleat attached Specialized have worked with medical professionals to analyse the way we ride and develop the ultimate cycling shoes.

All Specialized shoes in their Body Geometry range feature the Varus Wedge, an inbuilt support under the inside of the foot to correct the alignment of the foot during pedaling. This makes for a more efficient pedaling action as well as relieving pressure on your knees. Specialized shoes also feature a metatarsal button in the in-sole which applies light pressure and support to the foot to eliminate the condition know as “hot foot”.

Specialized then go one step further by offering a range of footbeds (insoles) designed to provide extra support for people with different height arches. The footbeds also come with Varus and Vagus wedges so you can add or reduce the lift in the shoe to suit your unique body shape. These footbeds are also a great upgrade for owners of other brand shoes that do not offer features such as the Varus wedge and metatarsal button.

Sport Road

Even this affordably priced road shoe has all the major Body Geometry features that make Specialized shoes so popular. A secure three strap closure keeps the shoe snug while a stiff sole provides excellent pedaling efficiency.

Elite Road

Comp Road

Pro Carbon Road

The addition of the X-Link ratchet adjustment strap lets you get a tight yet adjustable fit across the top of the foot. This is a key strap for holding the foot in place and preventing lift. Much more adjustable then a Velcro strap. What separates the X-Link strap fro the competition is that it can be adjusted to different lengths by moving its mounting point on the shoe. This allows riders with a wide variety of foot shapes to get the most from this model. The Pro road also features a light and stiff Carbon sole.

The Boa ratchet system lets the shoe shape around your whole foot rather then just being tightened at three separate points as with a regular strap design. Sport MTB
